National GOP Senatorial Committee chair speaks out on possible Senate bid by Secretary Pompeo

National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Todd Young is speaking out on the possibility of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo launching a 2020 Senate bid in Kansas.

During an interview Monday, the Indiana Senator said Pompeo clearly has a heart for service and serving in the Senate would be a great way to give back to his country.

Young also pointed out Pompeo has roughly a year to make a decision.The lawmaker cited his experience working with Pompeo and offered high praise for the possibility of being colleagues with him in the chamber.

“Having served with Mike Pompeo in the House of Representatives, and having worked with him as Director of Central Intelligence, and then as Secretary of State, and him continuing in that capacity, I can say without equivocation and without qualification, I can conceive of no one who I’d rather work with in the United States Senate from the state of Kansas than Mike Pompeo,” stated Young.

Pompeo has yet to comment on reports he may run for the Senate.
