New reports reveal drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman allegedly bribed then-Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto with $100-million.
The claim was made in federal court by Colombian drug lord Alex Cifuentes Villa, who worked closely with El Chapo from 2007 to 2013.
The witness said the bribe was delivered to Pena Nieto through a mediator in 2012, and suggested El Chapo paid more than $10-million to the Mexican military to launch an offensive against a rival cartel.
Pena Nieto, who left office last year, called the accusation false and defamatory.
